It’s a world famous name and THE place you are most likely to spy a famous face.
St Barts is a foodie’s paradise. It could be the fresh seafood. It could be the French influence. It could be that the island attracts some of the world’s top chefs and even hosts an annual gourmet festival. It could be all of the above. All we know is that when we think of the best restaurants in St Barts, it’s impossible not to get a little excited. Even if you visit for a luxurious fortnight, you’d struggle to squeeze in all the top menus – but worry not, our guide is here to make that choice a little easier.
Whether you feel like dining with your feet in the sand, letting the rosé flow with a spectacular view, or slipping into your latest duty-free find for a truly elegant dining experience, there’s something to suit every mood in St Barts. We’ve been travelling to the island for over a decade and with each visit, we’ve made it our mission to secure tables at the island’s newest restaurants and sample the latest menus at our established favourites.
This year’s niche travel guide contains more than 18 of our top dining spots. From world-class Italian food with a New York vibe at L’isola to ultra-romantic fine dining at Le Toiny restaurant, these are the restaurants worth a night (or even two!) of your precious holiday.
The islands culinary scene continues to improve with the number of exciting new openings over the last couple of years. Le Christopher Coutanceau at the Hotel Christopher offers a stylish seafood inspired menu with cocktails and views to match. Gyp Sea Beach on Saint-Jean beach has quickly established itself for its food cooked on an open wood-fired grill and rum inspired cocktails. Nao Beach Club is a brand new luxury beach club also on Saint-Jean beach, with a contemporary menu of Japanese and French inspired cuisine.
In the evenings, we love nothing more than making the most of the warm nights and heading to the island’s capital for dinner. The restaurants in Gustavia offer something for everyone, from the relaxed, bohemian vibes at Shellona, to world class sushi at Skybar. We love taking in the panoramic views at Bonito and feasting on French gastronomy at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon. Of course, no guide would be complete without mention of Fish Corner, a small but perfectly formed fish shack serving up the island’s freshest seafood.
There are days when we crave a long, lazy, lobstery lunch and others when we just need a quick bite before an afternoon jet-skiing around the bays. You’ll find both in our guide to the very best beach restaurants. We’ve included beach clubs with live DJs, world-famous pizza, and restaurants serving authentic Caribbean cuisine. Allow us to find a beach restaurant that compliments the flavour of your holiday.
