L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon

Niche Travel Guides

The team behind one of the worlds most decorated chefs Joël Robuchon have opened the most exciting new restaurants in St Barth for 2021. Robuchon was known as the ‘Chef of the Century’ before he sadly passed away in 2018. His restaurants are renowned for focusing on the highest quality of ingredients, producing consistently excellent French cuisine. The restaurant empire which spans across the world have gained over thirty Michelin stars.

Located in Gustavia opposite the harbor, the restaurant has opened with two concepts – L’Atelier and Le Rooftop. L’Atelier offers a tasting menu of Robuchon signature dishes with the option to sit around an open kitchen or in the dining room, and Le Rooftop is more casual affair, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner with stunning views and a small cocktail bar with ten seats.

If you join them for breakfast Le Rooftop has some of St Barth best homemade pastries, you can also enjoy a selection of egg dishes, or delicious French toast if you have a sweet tooth. At lunchtime they offer an excellent value prix fixe menu for 60 Euros which includes three courses, which is an excellent way to sample their food. As the sun sets, join them for dinner you can enjoy dishes such as sweet spiced tuna with a chilli and citrus emulsion and fried frogs’s legs, garlic, parsley & mushrooms, and no Robuchon meal would be complete without trying a side of the legendary mashed potato.

At L’Atelier take a seat on one of their bright red stools for dinner overlooking the kitchen and the chefs take you on a culinary journey with St Barths most impressive tasting menu. The menu changes regularly depending on the season but you can expect mouth-watering dishes such as crab with celeriac, apple and caviar and turbot with green curry and coriander.

Our favourite seats are at the counter in L’Atelier and on the edge at Le Rooftop, so make sure you request them when you make a reservation. After dinner take a stroll around the harbor and drop into the lively Baz Bar for some waterside drinks and live music.
