This is, in our opinion, the best Italian restaurant in St Barts. You’ll find L’Isola on Rue Roi Oscar II in Gustavia, yet you could be forgiven for thinking you’d been transported to a trendy restaurant in New York. This sophisticated Italian restaurant has been a St Barts favourite ever since opening in 2008. The elegant dining room is lit up with candles, making it a special place for a romantic meal. Such is the variety and quality of the food; we’ve been known to make more than one visit during a trip to the island. They also have a little sister restaurant L’isoletta, which comes highly recommended if you are craving a pizza fix.

Provenance. L’Isola only use the finest ingredients imported from Italy. The menu changes frequently, but heavenly pasta dishes always make the cut. On our last visit, we raved about the pata negra fettuccini and rosemary risotto with wild boar, the Veal Chop ‘Milanese’ is also a firm favourite. Desserts are simple but delicious, we recommend the lemon tart or home-made pistachio ice cream. L’Isola also benefits from an outstanding wine list to accompany their candlelit feasts.

End your evening in style by going for a drink at the quarter kitchen and cocktail lab, which has some of the best cocktails in St Barth.
