Villa Marie Saint-Barth

Niche Travel Guides

Palms, palms, and more palms. They’re everywhere in this beautiful five-star St Barts boutique hotel – in the garden, on the furnishings and even in the centre of the dining room. Walking through your suite it feels as though you’ve stepped into the heart of the rainforest, with wood shuttered windows and parrots and pineapples on the walls. If you’re searching for a romantic boutique hotel on St Barts, head to the hills of Colombier, with views of Flamands Beach.

When you’re surrounded by so many tropical plants, you really should have a rum in your hand. Luckily, Villa Marie has its own rum bar called the Pineapple Bar stocked with Caribbean specialities (plus a few Cubans in the humidor). Once you’ve had your fill of signature rum cocktails, dinner is served in the François Plantation restaurant – and it’s traditional Caribbean food at its best.

The food at Villa Marie makes it worth skipping a beach day. Instead, have your gourmet breakfast delivered poolside (we recommend the rum-infused French toast) or take a seat for lunch in the private garden under the palm trees and enjoy a healthy Watermelon salad with goats cheese, pistachios and arugula.

If you need a break from all the delicious food on offer, they have two treatment rooms in their Pure Altitude Spa, which is inspired surrounding tropical garden. We recommend the Pure Coconut Ritual – an after sun repairing ritual which begins with a coconut scrub and wrap followed by a coconut oil massage.

Villa Marie recently shared the exciting news that they are opening a “Bohemian Beach Club” on the iconic Bay of St Jean called Gypsea Beach Club. The food will be prepared mainly on the barbecue. Expect Smoked Rib of Beef, Jerk Chicken, Rock Lobsters with charred vegetables with za’atar spices and aioli. There will be plenty of rum cocktails on the menu, plus occasionally a live DJ. We are sure this will be one of the hottest tickets in St Barts for the 2021 season.

With a canopy over the bed, stunning views and a 10-metre private pool, the Master Villa Piscine suite is the perfect island oasis. With two double bedrooms it is ideal for two couples or a small family.
