The Giri Café

Niche Travel Guides

Located in the north of Ibiza in the charming village of San Juan, The Giri Café has become an island institution since they opened their doors in 2011. This bohemian hotspot is run by the same team as the luxurious boutique hotel – The Giri Residence.

The jewel in the crown of The Giri Café is its incredible garden, with tables placed around a variety of vegetables, flowers, herbs, and berries. For us, its one of the most special places to eat in Ibiza. On a recent trip in 2021, we enjoyed it so much we visited them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the same week.

At the heart of their philosophy is to serve local sustainable and seasonal food made with love, they also respect the environment and recycle as much as possible.

A Mediterranean menu designed by head chef Juan Pablo, which focusses predominantly on the high quality of the ingredients that they source from their garden, or local markets in Ibiza. The dishes are often finished with roasted nuts, fresh herbs, and edible flowers to enhance the texture and flavour.

With the sun shining in their garden, what better way than to start your day with a strong organic coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and their omelet with baked tomatoes, spinach, and raw mushrooms, topped with some crunchy bacon. For lunch, order a glass of local rosé wine and enjoy dishes such as the mixed tomatoes, burrata, garlic, basil and white onion, or our favorite, the vitello tonnato with crispy capers, pistachios, and croutons.

As the sun sets, the Giri Café lights up its garden and becomes the perfect venue for a romantic meal or a dinner with friends. Begin with one of their expertly crafted classic cocktails that they give an Ibizan twist too using fruit and herbs from their garden. The dinner menu is a more indulgent affair – we recommend the seasonal mushroom risotto with truffle and asparagus and the Iberican ‘secreto’ pork with Peruvian anticucho sauce, yucca fries & mash, sweet potato chips & coriander.

For a relaxing break in one of Ibiza’s best small boutique hotels, we highly recommend The Giri Residence. They also have a Spa available to outside guests which offers a variety of treatments including massages, facials, private yoga and meditation sessions.
