Renowned chef Rafael Zafra has brought an exciting new concept to Ibiza with his stunning new restaurant – Jondal. With previous experience as a chef at El Bulli and successful restaurants established in Barcelona and Madrid with the same name – Estimar, this is one of the most exciting new openings we’ve seen in Ibiza for a few years. 

Located in the bay of Cala Jondal on Ibiza’s southern coast, the restaurant focuses on seafood, with a big emphasis on seasonal dishes. With a laid-back atmosphere and Ibiza style décor using natural materials this restaurant feels like it truly belongs on the island.

The restaurant seeks to source the finest organic produce and fish from Ibiza, Jondal’s menu comprises of ingredients often cooked in two separate ways. They serve a variety of mouth-watering seafood, meat, and vegetable dishes, you will need to visit more than once to fully experience the menu.

On our first visit we started with simple but delicious fried anchovies with lemon and the grilled red prawns, followed by the stingray in brown butter and the exquisite signature deep fried scorpion fish, corn tortillas and jalapeño tartare sauce. If you love crema catalana, as we do, you simply must try their version with pineapple and roasted pineapple sorbet.

You can also rent out sunbeds if you want to kick back, relax, and enjoy their signature cocktails in comfort, our favourite was the Paloma, a refreshing mix of tequila, lime, and grapefruit. Jondal have quickly become one of the most popular restaurants in Ibiza, so for the 2022 season we recommend booking your table at least couple of weeks in advance.
